When I was younger and had a paper route, I would sometimes be asked by my customers to do odd jobs for them. This was a great way to make a bit of extra money. One older lady was extraordinarily thrifty: when I washed her windows, I could only use newspaper for the initial cleaning, and use paper towels for the final wipe down. Not only that, but the paper towels would subsequently be laid out to dry so that I could use them again the next time.

I led a mixed group of kids and adults through some drawing lessons tonight at Rehoboth URC. We focused on the theme of 'living stones', the subject being small cairns set up in the middle of the room. We started with exercises in line drawing, blind drawing, and drawing values with charcoal, before integrating these skills in a final drawing, and there was some terrific work produced by the participants.
